When brainstorming social and political issues I'm passionate about, one of the first things that came to mind was mental health. Mental health is something that's become more and more normal. Normal to talk about and normal to hear about. I didn't personally experience any problems with my mental health until my first semester of freshman year, so I've become more and more passionate about it knowing what others are going through. Pinterest is my go to for inspiration and I was scrolling through it when I saw the quote, "Mental illness doesn't define you, but we should still talk about it". I knew right away that was the quote I wanted to use because I remembered how hard it was to talk about and I know so many others feel the same. I saw lots of brains being used in other people's work on mental health, so that got my ideas flowing for my design. I also saw a lot of sketches of tired women, with their heads hung low. I knew I didn't want to do something like that because not everyone with a mental illness looks that way! Usually they try to hide it and cover up with a smile. I wanted to be straight forward and get my message across, and this is what I came up with!
